This luxuriously produced book is accompanied by two CDs containing the recorded audio from the Oratorio. This book has been written by the Dutch musicologist Frits de Haen and the internationally renowned musicologist, theologian and Bach expert Robin A. Leaver. De Haen interviewed conductor Jan Willem de Vriend and writes about the spiritual and worldly aspects of these six cantatas. Leaver goes into the liturgical background of the Oratorio. All this is combined with unique 'Mother & Child' photographs from all over the world, which have been taken by Eddy Posthuma de Boer.

Watch Pauw & Witteman tonight at 23.00 - 23.50h on Nederland 1.

December... last month of the year, time to look back on 2012's musical highlights. The top lists are popping up everywhere. One of Musicweb-international’s Nick Barnard favorite recordings of this year is 'Kreutzer-Sonata and other works for violoncello & piano' by Jelena Ocic & Federico Lovato

“An artistic team who do merit a second top six finish in two years. Moscheles' melodic studies based on Bach's Well-tempered Clavier is one of the year's discoveries for sure. Stunningly passionate but assured advocacy throughout from Ocic and Lovato.”
